Application of oscillating knives
The machining process, due to the variety and individual properties of the processed materials, will not always be applicable. It will not work, among others, in:
- cutting out cardboard packaging,
- cutting out fillers made of PE (polyethylene),
- cutting out foams to fill transport crates securing valuable cargo in transport,
- cutting car mats,
- cutting out rubber or reinforced Teflon gaskets,
- cutting various types of leather, foil, carpets and insulation materials.
Parameters determining the quality of machining
A very good solution in the above-mentioned cases is the use of oscillating knives with appropriate geometry, in conjunction with the oscillating head of the cutter. The whole of such a process uses the oscillation phenomenon, i.e. the cyclic change of the stroke of the oscillating knife carried out by the oscillating head, in relation to another variable, in this case a variable related to the spatial system X, Y, Z.
The parameters responsible for the edge quality of the material that is subjected to oscillation are:
- appropriate geometry of the oscillating knife,
- correctly selected material from which the knife is made
- smooth blade surface.
